The Estate of José Astor Baggio The Baggio family tradition of cultivating coffee beans dates back to 1886 when they emigrated from Italy. They started growing coffee in the States of São Paulo and Parana and decided to grow specialty high quality coffee in the fertile soil and excellent climate of Minas Gerais. Fazenda Pindaibas is owned by José Astor Baggio and is located at an elevation of approximately 3,000 feet in the southeastern region of Minas Gerais near the town of Piumhi. This is Brazil’s premiere coffee growing region for Arabica Catuai variety.The timing of harvesting is crucial to maximize the quantity of ripe red coffee beans also known as “Cherry Beans” which produce Platinum Quality coffees. The separation of cherry coffee beans and green coffee beans is essential to guarantee consistently highest quality. The cherry coffee beans are hand picked by well trained and experienced coffee farmers. |
